Measure the temperature of the solvent to be adjusted. Ensure this is 20°c.
Remove a small sample of solvent a place a couple of drops onto the glass refractometer prism.
Look through the eyepiece and read the brix value of the solvent. This is shown as a blue/white line across the scale of the refractometer.
Check this reading against the correction chart to calculate the percentage of corrective fluid required.
Add corrective fluid to reclaimed solvent and ensure thorough mixing (at least 10 minutes).
Check brix value of the adjusted solvent to make sure it is now correct.
The correct brix value is between 74.0 - 75.5
